What a gorgeous horse! When I read your post, my jaw actually dropped when I reached the pictures. With a mum like that, that foal is going to be breathtaking too! I hope you don't mind, I saved the photos for painting references of the color as well.

Awww, thanks When I first saw her I thought she was so ugly that she was cute. She has really grown on me though. I've always been an arab person, so something so LOUD is very different to me.

Thursdays are one of my set "barn days" of the week, but yesterday was just too hot to ride so I waited till later in the evening, after her supper to hang out with her. I rinced her down, re-did her tail (I keep it in a tail bag) and just hand grazed her. The baby wasn't moving near as much, I guess he/she had gotten dinner and was ready for bed. While we were hanging out with her, mom and I wondered, do animals "know" they are pregnant? Do they "know" what has decided to move about like that in their belly?

I think animals are aware that they are pregnant. Especially with the bigger animals; I have a hard time believing that they would be oblivious to hard little hooves slamming into the side of your stomach all day! When you breed rabbits, you let the doe tell you she's pregnant by putting her in with the male again. If she goes berserk, odds are she's pregnant. (Possibly chiding him for getting her into that mess! ) And animals go through the strong nesting instinct, even more so than humans.

I'm going to throw my vote in for a fewspot mule. Maybe with dainty blue eyes...
