After seeing Stones new Morgan mold which is going to kick the stuffing out of the old one btw, I got to wondering. I have heard that Morgans are thought to be of Frisian descent. Has anyone every done the blood tests to determine just what they came from? I know they can do it with people ..
Its such a great horse. It would be interesting to know.

I think the Morgan is one of the most mysterious breeds out there as to it's founding stock outside of Figure himself. I've heard that a Welsh cob may have been one of Figure's ancestors, as well as the aforementioned Friesians. I wish the ancestral stock weren't lost in the mist. He was so unique and genetically prepotent, that his desccendant's that haven't had a lot of outcrossing with ASB blood, still retain a lot of his traits. They are such amazing horses .

I've also heard that Morgans are likely related to Cheval Canadiens (Canadian Horses.) They do have a lot of resemblences.

I've also heard Hackneys mentioned as another possible Morgan ancestor. Certainly Morgans are cool little horses! I've never owned one, since I'm tall and Morgans tend to be short, but we have had a couple as barn mates and I really love them. The best thing about a Morgan is they can do AN-EE-THING! Figure was even used for stump pulling.

There is some way to say where someone came from from doing a gene typing thing.
Has no one ever done that kind of study on horses?
