New from Templewood Studios is a great medallion painted for a great cause! This “Faith” medallion was sculpted by Rebecca Turner for Show for the Cure Live 2009; a live show held in Illinois that donates all proceeds to cancer research. This is the first piece to come out of my studio this year, and she’s finished in a pattern that I very rarely paint.
No detail has been spared on this piece. After being professionally prepped and primed, she was handpainted in a combination of acrylics, pastels, and pencils to this incredibly detailed bay leopard appaloosa. From her mixed mane, to her detailed eyes, mapped spots, and mottling, down to her yellowed teeth; she is as lifelike as I could make her. Other details include subtle hairing throughout her face, fuzzy ears, subtle pinking throughout on thin skinned areas of the face, and dirty stains on her nasal bones and other areas where a halter would rub (after all, how many white horses do you know of who are always perfectly clean?) The ribbon that frames the piece has been painted a dark metallic blue, and is also richly shaded. She has been sealed with multiple coats of Krylon Matte, followed by several coats of Testor’s Dull Cote. Her eyes, nostrils, and teeth have been glossed. “Faith” has been signed and dated on the back, “Joanna Inman, ‘09″; she measures 6″ long by 3″ wide.
All proceeds (after fees) from this auction will be sent to Jenna Nejman, the show coordinator, who will then send them on to the show’s sponsered cancer charities.
